Where Was I? - a pertinent question, in a number of situations: a resumption after an interjection, a mea culpa of responsibility, a short-term memory loss. Identity and its relation to the passage of time. Who was it who did those things, admirable and shameful, that fill one's memory? When was that exactly anyway? Amnesia, if one loves and is loved, can seem like the worst possible fate - and yet we all dream of the ultimate freedom it represents at one time or another. This piece attempts to inhabit or impersonate that mindset, a present mindful of the past, but not quite able to piece it all together, at least not at the moment.
